The managers of a donkey farm in Huelva in southern Spain have made their animals available to health workers to relieve their stress from fighting against the coronavirus spread with the help of 'Doctor Burro' or 'Dr. Donkey' project.

The donkey farm with the animals interacting peacefully with people who were petting and feeding them was seen on Wednesday.

"The Dr. Donkey project is an idea to give back a little bit, as a reward, a debt we all have a little bit to the health workers. [It's for] all the people that work in a hospital, who work as guards, [ambulance] drivers, that have worked so hard and are still working against this COVID-19 pandemic," said Luis Manuel Bejarano, president of the association 'El Burrito Feliz' also translated as 'The happy donkey.'

Bejarano added that the 'Doctor Burro' project seeks to get healthcare personnel "deprogrammed" so they can be disconnected from their daily work duties, at least for a few hours.

Cristina, a worker at the hospital in Huelva, explained that interacting with the donkeys helped her relax.

According to local reports, the 'Doctor Burro' project was also successfully implemented to help different groups of patients.
